Lummie Eugene Butler

Lummie Eugene (Gene) Butler passed away peacefully at Pruitt Sunrise Nursing home in Moultrie, Ga on August 23, 2022. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11AM at Rose Hill Baptist Cemetery with Elder Phillip Howell officiating. He was born in Colquitt County on October 23, 1940 to Lummie and Willie Mae Butler who preceded him in death. Gene loved gospel and bluegrass music. He treasured his family and his birthday celebrations. Gene attended the Thomas-Grady County Training Center for many years where he learned how to make things and accumulated many friends. Everyone that ever met him loved his infectious smile, his beautiful blue eyes and his tender heart. He is survived by his Aunt Edna Tatum Carroll of Hartsville, Ga, sister-in-law Phyllis Butler of Columbus, Ga, first cousin Jimmy Giles and four generations of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by three infant sisters and one infant brother and sisters Louise (JC) Fleetwood, Odessa (Ken) Hutchinson and brother Roy Butler. A visitation will be held Friday, August 26, 2022, from 5-7PM at Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel.
