Luther Cleveland Chastain, Jr. ''L.C.''

Funeral services for Luther Cleveland Chastain, Jr. ''L.C.'' will be at 3 PM on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at the First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Dan Spencer officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leon Scott, Roger Stewart, Chris Cowling, Michael Cowling, James Fleetwood, Donald Brinson, Tommy Williams, Jack Vonier, Mickey Dupree. Honorary pallbearer will be Carlton Parrish. Mr. Chastain died March 28, 2003 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 10, 1921 in Thomas County to the late Luther Cleveland Chastain Sr. and Mary Harrell Chastain. He was a graduate of Thomasville High School in 1939 and was the owner of Southern Sand and Chastain Sand and Gravel, a member of First Baptist Church , VFW, and the American Legion. He married Eloise Brinson Chastain on June 26, 1948 in Cairo. Survivors include his wife Eloise Brinson Chastain of Thomasville, daughters Connie Chastain Smith, Phyllis Chastain Nail and husband Jimmy, Vicki Chastain McGuyrt and husband Mack, son Luther Cleveland Chastain III ''Chip'' all of Thomasville; sisters Eileen Chastain Dupree and O'Resa Chastain Dupree both of Jacksonville, Fl.; grandsons Ryan Dixon Smith and wife Carrie of Ackworth, Ga., James Edward ''Jamie'' Nail of Thomasville, granddaughters Dana Smith Johns and husband Matt of Grayson, Ga., Kristin Nail Doane and husband Nathan of Thomasville, Amanda Marie Sringer of Valdosta, Whitney Lanier Smith of Thomasville, stepgrandchild James Wesley Nail. He was preceded in death by a grandson Adam Chastain Nail on Aug. 6, 2000. The family will recieve friends from 5 -7 on Saturday at the funeral home.
