Lynn Samuel Kirkland
Graveside services for Lynn Samuel Kirkland, 64, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2009 in Laurel Hill Cemetery on 9th Street. The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Mr. Kirkland died October 15 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born July 17, 1945, in Thomasville, he was the only son of the late Lynn and Ruby Cannon Kirkland who were the former owners of Kirkland-Croy-Hughes Home for Funerals. On May 17, 1969, in Thomasville, he married Wynelle Bulloch Kirkland who survives. He was a graduate of Thomasville High School and Southern Tech in Marietta and was an engineer by trade. Mr. Kirkland was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War from 1967 until 1969. He retired from Amoco Fabrics after 15 years of service which include a 3 year stay in Hong Kong and China where he served as General Manager to build a plant in mainland China. This project was a joint venture with the Chinese. He was a member of Dawson Street Baptist Church and was also a Mason and a Shriner. He was a former member of the Rotary club. Survivors include daughter, Joli Kirkland of Nashville; son, Lynk Kirkland of Nashville; sister-in-law, Ann Delaney; brother-in-law, Wayne Bulloch; cousins, Geraldine Russell, Rodney Jackson, Alice Dickey, Tommy Harrison and Barbara Clinebell.
