Funeral services for Madge Carlton Powell, 89, of Thomasville are at 2:00PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at First Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner, Rev. Dan Spencer and Rev. Lee Waller will officiate and interment is at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Powell died November 10, 2003 at Camellia Garden Nursing Home. She was born January 26, 1914 in Colquitt Co., Ga. She was married to S. Revis Powell who preceded her in death. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Mary Grubbs Sunday School Class. Survivors include daughters, Nevelle Horne of Albany, GA., Mae Scott of Andrews, N.C., son, Sheriff R. Carlton Powell of Thomasville; grandchildren, Lee C. Powell of Budapest, Hungary, Kay Streets of Thomasville, Melanie Banis of Mcgee, MS., Charles Horne of Albany, Joye McLester of San Antonio, TX., Larry Scott, Jr., of Jasper, Fl., and Chris Scott of Tyler, TX.; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Ava Lee Spier of Richmond, VA., Katherine Senn of Freeport, IL., and Eulalah Gardner of Coolidge, GA; brother Straud Carlton of Albany,. GA. A daughter, Helen Dale Powell, preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to a church or charity of your choice. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8PM on Tuesday.
