Services for Major Shivers L. Andy Anderson, Jr, 86, of Thomasville are 1:00pm, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Wendell Hollingsworth will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Mark Anderson, Ron Anderson, Richard Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Sgt. Jason Hollingsworth and Lee Fletcher. Mr. Anderson died July 4, 2010 at his residence. Born October 26, 1923 in Augusta, he was the son of the late Shivers Luther Anderson, Sr and Estelle Florence Anderson. On December 28, 1947 he married Maxine Ruth Ylander Anderson, who survives. He was a retired Major for the Army Reserve, and he served active duty in WWII in the US Calvary and in the Philippines, he was a retired forester for Armstrong World Industries, was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville and former member of Vineville Baptist Church of Macon. Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law, Mark & Marsie Anderson of Martinez, Ga and Ron & Debbie Anderson of Columbus, daughter & son-in-law, Jan & Wendell Hollingsworth of Thomasville; grandchildren, Richard & Donna Anderson, Leslie Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Amy Hollingsworth, Dawn Hollingsworth, Sgt. Jason Hollingsworth and Max Anderson; one great grandson, Rilan Anderson. He was preceded in death by sisters, Florence Fleming and Lorene Heath.
