Services for Marcelle Massey McLeod, 88, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2008 at Dawson Street Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Lee Waller will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McLeod died March 18 at Archbold Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Born August 18, 1920, in Barwick, she was the daughter of the late Bertie Lloyd and Reva Jones Massey. On June 23, 1941, she married William Archie McLeod, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1964. She graduated from Barwick High School, Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and Florida State University. She taught 6th grade in the Thomas County school system and was a charter faculty member of Brookwood School. She also taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Pilot Club. She was the matriarch of her family and instilled a love of the Lord, strong values and family traditions. She was happiest when her family was gathered together. She was a wonderful, Christian mother whose memory will be cherished forever. Survivors include children, William Michael McLeod, Terry Dupriest, Vicki Reagan and Cindy Hurst all of Thomasville, Ga.; sons-in-law, David Dupriest, Jeffery Hurst and Jerry Reagan all of Thomasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Stephen McLeod of Arlington, VA, Brad McLeod of Atlanta, Ga., Lang McLeod of Marietta, Ga., Robert Caldwell, III of Phoenix, Ariz, Allison Seymour of Rome, Ga. Laura Sailors of Jefferson, Ga. Stephanie Powers of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Amanda Moore of Valdosta, Ga., Jason Hurst of Thomasville, Ga., Julie Anne Eldred of Salem, Ala., Gina El-Laoune of Snellville, Ga., McLeod Norman of Smyrna, Ga.; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, R.L. Massey of Quincy, Fla.; sister, Patricia M. Engel of Thomasville, Ga.; special cousin, Anne Black of Tallahassee, Fla. She was preceded in death by a brother, Terrance Massey.
