Marcus Woodrow Maddox

December 21, 1948 — February 5, 2023

Marcus "Mark" Woodrow Maddox, 74, of Thomasville, Georgia passed away on February 5th, 2023. He passed away peacefully in his home with his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Maddox, by his side.
Marcus Woodrow Maddox was born on December 21, 1948 to Woodrow and Elizabeth Maddox of Thomasville, GA. He attended Thomas County Central High School and graduated in 1967 and earned a degree in Agriculture from University of Georgia in 1971. His passion for the outdoors led him to pursue a career in the Agriculture/Forestry industry. He was a lifelong UGA fan and he witnessed back-to-back National Championships before his passing. Nothing was going to hold him back from watching the Dawgs make history.
Being a thoughtful and dependable father, husband and Grandaddy was of the utmost importance to Mark and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. In return, he was loved by many friends, relatives, and anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. Mark's admiration for the outdoors was undeniable. Whether he was working in the woods, hunting or fishing, cooking/grilling at social gatherings and making sure everyone left with a full belly or volunteering his time as a coach on the ball field, he simply loved being around others. His enthusiastic personality and kindness did not go unnoticed. He was the salt of the earth.
In addition to his wife Libby Maddox, he is survived by his sons Marcus Chad Maddox of Thomasville, Ga and Lucas Maddox of Boston, Ga. and step-children Matthew Rowland of Las Vegas, NV and Krista Kauffman (Chad Kauffman) of Vail, CO. He is also survived by grandchildren Hailey and Sam Maddox of Florida and Carson, Harper and Asher Kauffman of Vail, CO.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Pine Park Baptist Church, where he was a member, on Wednesday, February 8th at 11am. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
