Funeral services for Margaret Griffin Anderson, 97 will be on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dennis Norman will officiate the service and a private burial will be held after the service. Mrs. Anderson died on August 2, 2020 in Thomasville. Born on December 29, 1922 in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late John and Nettie Palmer Griffin. Margaret was always active in her community and civic work to make it a better place to live in. She served on state committees for Farm Bureau for two terms. Other activities included serving as President of the Livestock Association, served as a leader of Cancer and Diabetes education in Thomasville and worked with the Red Cross as a Gray Lady at Archbold and with the Blood Bank. She was a member of the Georgia Cotton Women, the Meigs Garden Club and served as an ambassador for the Thomas Co. Chamber of Commerce. In 1959, she was selected Georgia Homemaker of the Year for her work in the Homemaker Club and 4-H. She was an active member of Meigs Baptist Church. Survivors include her grandchildren, Mauri Smith (Chris), Henry J. Anderson, great-grandchildren, Charlie Smith, Lila Grace Smith, Etta Anderson, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Henry J. Anderson, daughter, Sara Crozier; sisters, Odessa Dollar, Estelle Baker; friend Clint Sanders.
