Margaret Brinson

Mrs. Margaret Courtney Brinson passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, in Thomasville at the age of 94. A lifelong resident of Thomasville, Mrs. Brinson was born on December 23, 1928, the youngest of the six children of Burton M. and Audrey M. Courtney. Mrs. Brinson’s siblings, all of whom predeceased her, were Max Courtney (Billie), Bruce Courtney (Inez), Martha C. Schoolcraft (Doug), Allene C. Hall (Fred) and Rachel C. Dodds (Arno.) Margaret grew up in the Tockwotton section of Thomasville. She attended East Side School and graduated from Thomasville High School in 1947 where she played basketball and was a member of the Tri-Hi-Y Club. After high school, Mrs. Brinson began work with the Interstate Insurance Co. in Thomasville and was later employed with the Watson/Scott Co., Thomas Drug Store and later with the Thomasville Times- Enterprise. On April 24, 1949, she married William David Brinson who predeceased her. She was the mother of David Courtney Brinson (Kathy) of Sautee Nacoochee, GA and Jeffrey Andrew Brinson (Terri) of Ochlocknee, GA. A daughter, Linda Susan Brinson, also predeceased her.
Mrs. Brinson was the proud “Mimi” to five grandchildren: Holly B. Covington (Jesse) of Santa Barbara, CA, David Courtney Brinson, Jr. (Michelle) of Athens, GA, Jeffrey Andrew Brinson, Jr. (Tina) of Ochlocknee, GA, Justin Marshall Brinson (Meghan) of Arcata, CA and Natalie B. Guffey (Kraig) of Marietta, GA. She had also been blessed with sixteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Allen and Allen FH from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Allen and Allen FH with burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church.
