Services for Margaret Wilder Wingate, 61, of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Springhill Church on Springhill Rd in Thomasville. Mrs. Wingate passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. She was the daughter of Roscoe C. Wilder of Perry, Fl and Carolyn Ferrell Wilder of Thomasville, both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Wingate graduated from Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, Fl, received her bachelor’s degree from LaGrange College, master’s degree from Valdosta State University and specialist degree from West Georgia College. She started her teaching career at Ravenwood Academy in Meigs, Ga. She next taught at Worth County High School in Sylvester, Ga. She continued her illustrious career at Pine Mountain Middle School in Kennesaw, Ga and finished her 34 year career at Kennesaw Mountain High School. During her career she was recognized with honors such as Star Teacher awards, Teacher of the Year and yearbook dedications. Mrs. Wingate retired in 2008 and moved back to the family farm outside of Thomasville. She will be missed greatly by her many friends, former students and family. She is survived by her husband David Ransom Wingate and sister, Martha Wilder, both of Thomasville.
