Marianne Inman Ellis, a devoted wife, loving mother, and respected community leader, passed away on December 11, 2023, at the age of 72. She was born on February 2, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Richard and Sarah Rigney Inman. Marianne grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended St. Pius High School. She furthered her education at the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.
Marianne dedicated over three decades of her life to serving others as the Director of Community Assistance at Thomas Grady Service Center. Her unwavering commitment to helping those in need made her a beloved figure in the community. Marianne's impact extended beyond her professional role; she also served as a long-time board member of the ARC and was actively involved in the Rights Committee at Thomas-Grady Service Center.
A woman of unyielding faith, Marianne was a cherished member of Saint Augustine Church in Thomasville. She actively participated in the women's group, served as a CCD instructor, and was a lector during Mass. Her genuine kindness and compassionate spirit touched the lives of many in the church congregation.
Marianne is survived by her devoted husband, Guy Ellis; her beloved children, Christopher Ellis (Amanda) of Cairo and Karen Ellis (Seth Tasker) of Boston, MA; and her cherished grandchildren, Topher Ellis, Liam Ellis, Piper Ellis, Ava Tasker, and George Tasker. She is also survived by her brothers, David Inman of Atlanta and Michael Inman of Los Angeles; sisters, Karen Annexstad of Alpharetta and Marie Inman of Thomasville; and stepmother, Cindy Inman of Thomasville. Marianne will be deeply missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law, Tammy Ellis (Bennie Franks).
Marianne Inman Ellis will forever be remembered as a compassionate soul who inspired others through her selfless dedication to her community and unwavering faith. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Saturday December 16, 2023 at 10am.
