Marianne Watt Jeffries Williams (Sissy)

Memorial Service for Marianne Watt Jeffries Williams (Sissy), who died on April 17, 2023 will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery of Thomasville, Georgia on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Born on November 27, 1924 in Thomasville, Georgia. Mrs. Williams was the daughter of Jessie Watt Jeffries and McChesney Hill Jeffries. She attended Thomasville public schools and graduated in 1947 from Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Georgia.

In 1949 she married Frank Edwin Williams III of Rockville, Maryland. He preceded her in death in 1999. She lived in Rockville, Maryland and St. Michaels, Maryland, before returning to Thomasville in 1993.

Mrs. Williams volunteered for many organizations through the years: As a Red Cross volunteer with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland; as an active member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Maryland and Georgia; on the Thomasville Entertainment Foundation Board of Trustees; at the Thomasville Genealogical History and Fine Arts Library; and as an active member of the First Presbyterian Church both of Rockville and Thomasville.

Surviving are her daughters Emily Frazer Williams Kelly (Edward) of Earlysville, Virginia and Marianne Hansell Williams McCallum of Rockville, Maryland; her son Frank Edwin Williams IV (Erin) of Augusta, Georgia; her 9 grandchildren Douglas Forbes McCallum, Jr. (Mary Pat), Anne Baillie McCallum, Andrew Wallace Williams (Nicolette), Daniel Munn Williams (Kerri), James McChesney Williams (Hailey); David Owen Williams; Caroline Frazer Williams; Elizabeth Grace Williams; Rosemary Tait Williams; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the special caregivers who gave her such loving care these past years, most especially Billy Jo Beverly, Carrie Ellen Goodwin, Laura Caldwell, Jennifer Brown, Tan Mitchell, Angela Seabrooks, Keysha Che, Sebrina Holton, Keke Freeman, and Annie Johnson.
