Marie Padgett Richards

Services for Marie Padgett Richards, 72 of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Richards passed away January 1, 2014 at her residence. Born May 15, 1941 in Shannon, Ga; she was the daughter of the late James Elijah Padgett and Florence Kennedy Padgett. She was married to James Allen Richards who preceded her in death. Mrs. Richards was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a cancer survivor who loved reading, being with her family, and writing poems and stories. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Vaughan Strickland and husband Jay; son, John Christopher Vaughan; grandchildren, Haley Strickland Mimbs and husband Ryne, Lauren Marie Strickland; great grandson, Aiden James Mimbs; sisters, Linda Collier and husband Clayton of Rome and Doris Rice Bremen of Marietta; brother, Calvin Padgett and wife Mary of Eufalla, Ala and special caregiver, Glenda Wilcox. She was preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Monroe, Estelle Oneal, Henry Padgett, Clarence Padgett, Donald Padgett, Frank Padgett and Jerry Padgett.
