Mark Anthony Alderman, age 58, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 in Quitman, Georgia. Mark was born on April 24, 1968 to Robert Roy Alderman and Margaret Jones Alderman in Thomasville, Georgia.
Always looking for an adventure, Mark joined the U.S. Navy in 1988. Mark loved his country and was proud of his time in the service. He spoke fondly and often about the places the Navy allowed him to see. He always said sleep is better on a ship with the ocean waves rocking you to sleep.
Mark never lost his love of the water and would sneak off to fish whenever he could. Whether fishing the river with his wife or the ocean with his brother, he was at peace on the water. Being drawn to the outdoors he also enjoyed camping, hunting or simply sitting on the front porch listening to nature.
Mark adored his family and never ended a phone call without telling them he loved them. He loved fiercely those who were blessed enough to call him family or friend. He will be dearly missed.
Mark is survived by his wife of 16 years, Misty Miles Alderman; his son, Eric "Doc" Marcus Alderman (Allison); his daughter, Kayla Nicole Taylor; his father, Robert Roy Alderman; his brother, Brent Alderman (Debi); his sister, Monica Bell (David); his grandchildren, Archer Alderman and Quinn Alderman, as well as, a soon to arrive baby girl he couldn't wait to meet; nieces, Rebecca Kremer (Cole), Lyndsey Palmer (Hayden) and Olivia Wehling (Rob); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Jones Alderman.
A service will be held for Mark at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Allen and Allen Funeral Home in Thomasville, Georgia with Pastor Steve Shierling officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service.
