Graveside services for Martha Ann Hancock Watson, 73, of Snellville, Ga are 11:00 am, Friday, October 10, 2008 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Jacobs will officiate. Mrs. Watson died October 5, 2008. Born August 23, 1935 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Edmond Hancock and Addie Pearl Clark Hancock. She lived in Thomasville until she finished the tenth grade. In junior high school, she and Jessie Watson became sweethearts and were married when he was attending college at University of Florida in Gainesville. Martha and Jessie moved from Gainesville, where they lived as newlyweds, to Jacksonville. Job transfers took them to Miami and then in 1980 to the Atlanta area, where Jessie was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank. After working all of her adult life as an executive secretary, Martha stopped working and became a housewife for the first time since her marriage around 1990, when health problems kept her out of the workplace. Martha loved the LORD dearly. Her children and grandchildren were her joy. She enjoyed doing for others and was involved with a number of charitable programs. Survivors include son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Robin Watson, daughter, Donna Watson Lawson, grandchildren, Katherine Watson, Marshall Watson, Jack Watson, sister, Virginia Soska, brother & sister-in-law, Gene & Jeanne Hancock, and brother, Gene Hancock.
