In December of 1968, Martha married the love of her life, the late Ken Burroughs. She dedicated over 40 years to her career in telecommunications, retiring from Verizon in 2002, where she held various technology roles and led numerous teams, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues.
Martha had a passion for reading, traveling, and cooking, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Mark Blackburn (Cathy) of Rydal, Georgia; grandchildren, Gordon Blackburn (Hailey) and Emily Blackburn (Kellcy); and one great-grandchild, Ryah Blackburn. Martha is also survived by her sister, Eugenia Kines (Jeanie), as well as several nieces and nephews, including Diane Kines of Jacksonville, Donnie Barfield of Jacksonville, Patty Rogers of Dahlonega, Paula Scoggins of Mariana, FL, Melanie Watts of Cairo, Jonathan Scoggins of El Paso, TX, Penny Roland of Cairo, Kimberly Reinoso of Marietta, GA, Michael Kines of Thomasville, Danny Kines of Thomasville, and Cheryl Kines of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Delila Glover (Dee), LaRue Barfield, Jack Scoggins, Hubert Scoggins, and nephew Wade Scoggins. In her memory, memorial contributions can be made to Boys Town or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
At this time, no services will be held, as the family wishes to honor her memory privately. Martha will be missed dearly by all who knew her and loved her.
