Phyllis Jackson Jones, 94, passed away on September 17, 2022. She was a resident at Woodleaf Senior Care. Mrs. Jones was born in Montgomery, Alabama on December 19, 1927, to Mattie (Pope) Jackson and Andrew Ores Jackson, Sr. She was the youngest of six children. Mrs. Jones' family moved to Miami, Florida in 1937. After her childhood and education, she met and married Jack McClain Jones, a native Miamian. She, her husband, and four daughters moved to Thomasville in 1961. Mrs. Jones worked beside her husband in their businesses throughout her life. She was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord. She always modeled compassion, kindness, and service and never failed to impart her Christian beliefs and values to her entire family and those around her. She was an active member of the Thomasville United Methodist Church serving on various committees, participating in the Sue McTier Sunday School Class, and serving in the Methodist Woman's Circle #3. Besides her parents and siblings, those who preceded her in death are her husband, Jack McClain Jones (1999), and grandson, Ben McClain Jackson (1999). She is survived by her four daughters Patsy (Harold) Jackson, Sue (Bobby) Banks, Janet (Maurice) Chastain, and Carolyn (John) Rainey of Thomasville. Grandchildren include Hal Jackson, Jr., Bobby Banks, Jr., Chris Banks, Amy Smith, Jason Chastain, Scott Chastain, Melanie Jackson, Leigh Allen, and Rusty Massey. In addition, Mrs. Jones had 19 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thomasville United First Methodist Church, Ben Jackson Foundation, or the Thomas County Food Bank. A special thanks to the staff at Woodleaf Senior Care, Abide, and Bethany Hospice. A private ceremony is planned for the family.
