Martha Ann Shiver, 84, of Morven, Georgia passed away on December 20, 2024, in Thomasville, Georgia. Martha was born to Maudie Sue Peterman and Vernon Egie Hickey on October 30, 1940. She was the eldest of three children.
Martha served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. She worked for the United States Postal Service in Valdosta, Georgia as a mail clerk. When she retired, she found a love for raising quail along with her husband, Preston Shiver. Together they raised quail and managed a small plant nursery in Morven, Georgia. Martha also loved to crochet and sew. She loved to spend time with her family and her beloved dog, Scooter.
She is survived by her son, Lavone (Kim) Shiver of Boston, Georgia, daughter Michelle Shiver of Thomasville, Georgia, grandsons Anthony (Nikki) Shiver of Boston, Georgia, Zachary (Anna) Shiver of Thomasville, Georgia, and great-grandson Daniel Preston Shiver, as well as her sister-in-law Mary Sue Hickey and brother Rodney (Diane) Hickey, all of Meigs, Georiga. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Peter Wismann, her second husband Preston Shiver, and her younger brother Shelby Hickey.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Midway Baptist Church in Meigs, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Georgia Hospice Care at https://carnationfoundation.org/
