Martha Wilder passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018. She was the daughter of Roscoe C. Wilder of Perry, Florida and Carolyn Ferrell Wilder of Thomasville, both of whom preceded her in death. Her only sibling, Margaret Wilder Wingate passed away in 2015.
Ms. Wilder graduated from Landon High School in Jacksonville, Florida, received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, Master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and specialist degree from the State University of New York at Brockport. She began her teaching career in Melbourne, Florida. Ms. Wilder then became an employee of the Department of Defense and taught at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rica, at Zaragoza Air Force Base in Spain, at Wurtsmith Memorial High School at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, at Dreux Air Force Base in France and finally at Wiesbaden Air Force Base in Germany.
Upon her return to the USA, Ms. Wilder taught math in Jacksonville, Florida and at Pompano Beach Middle School in Pompano Beach, Florida. She then went into guidance and counseling and spent then years at Palmyra-Macedon High School in Palmyra, New York. Continuing her work in Guidance Ms. Wilder was the Guidance Director at Fort Lauderdale High School, at Dillard High School, and at Northeast High School – all at Fort Lauderdale in Broward County, Florida.
Ms. Wilder retired after forty years of teaching to the family farm in Thomasville, Georgia. Per Ms. Wilder’s request, there will be no funeral service.
