He had a passion for life that was evident in his love for family and friends, as well as his hobbies. Marty enjoyed visiting the "pool room" and "snookering" all of his friends. In his youth, he was an enthusiastic participant in the Future Farmers of America, showcasing show steers, which remained a fond memory throughout his life.

Marty had a special connection with the outdoors, relishing rides down dirt roads in his old Jeep, and he took great pride in his yard work, often helping neighbors with their lawns. He shared a unique bond with his Jack Russell dog, Rusty, who was his constant companion at work.
