Services for Marvin Edward Jones, Sr, 82 of Thomasville will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at First Newark Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Brooks, Rev. Doug Halstead and Rev. Mike Keown will officiate and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Mike Barnes, Brandon Barnes, Scott Copps, Robbie Copps, Brent Griffin and Trey Griffin and honorary pallbearers are Gary Harrison Sunday School Class, Charlie Griffin, Andrew Clark, Norris McDaniel and Mark Clark. Mr. Jones passed away August 1, 2018 at Archbold Hospital. Born January 6, 1936 in Quitman, he was the son of the late I.B. Jones, Sr and Stella Parker Jones. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Williamson Jones. Mr. Jones was an active member of First Newark Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Gideons and was a role model to many. He loved hunting & fishing, people, and spending time with his family. Other survivors include his children, M. Edward Jones, Jr and wife Sandy of Sanford, Florida, Bonnie Harrison and husband Jim of Boston and Jeff Jones and wife Catina of Thomasville; Grandchildren, Brittany Jones, Megan Jones Bergozza and husband Alex, Ashley Jones, Kutter Harrison, Chase Harrison and Ansley Jones; sisters, Ruth Jones Flowers, Betty Jones Tucker and husband Gary, Margaret Jones Alderman and husband Bobby and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by grandson, Mathew Jones; siblings, Jessie Jones Wilson, Madeline Jones Howell, Bernice Jones Barnard, Bonnie Jones Shierling, Isaac Jones and Tommy Jones. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 2361, Thomasville, Ga 31799. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Friday, August 3 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
