Mary Alexis Ham Chastain

Services for Mary Alexis Ham Chastain, 78 of Thomasville are 3 pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner and Rev. Dan Spencer will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Chastain passed away June 6, 2011 at Archbold Hospital. Born August 25, 1932 in Pine Park, she was the daughter of the late Lucious G Ham and Alexis Ballard Ham. On August 29, 1954 she married Shelton K Chastain who survives. Mrs. Chastain graduated from Ochlocknee High School in 1949; she attended business school and worked for First Baptist Church as music and youth secretary. She was a devout Christian and she walked closely with the Lord. Although she had many illnesses, she enjoyed singing, sewing, YMCA fellowship and adored her grandchildren. Survivors include children, Melody Lloyd and husband Terry of Loganville, Kim Bauman and husband Fred of Orlando, Fl, Tina Richards of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jenna Reid and husband Charlie, Nic Lloyd, Mary Daughtry and husband Chris, John Richards, Jr. and Paige Richards. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Music Ministry, P O Box 2790, Thomasville, Ga 31799. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
