Mary J. Anderson, 72, passed away on March 27,2026 at home while under Hospice care. Mary was born in Thomasville, Ga on September 19, 1953, to William and Nan Bullington. She had ten siblings and moved to Dade City, Fl in 1960 with her family and then later to St. Petersburg, Fl in 1966. Graduating from Boca Ciega High School in 1971, she met her future husband while attending Disston Junior High School in 1967.

After graduation, she and her husband, Robert, graduated from St Petersburg Junior College and settled in St. Petersburg. Subsequently, Robert embarked on a Naval Career for over 25 years that saw Mary and their son, Damon, moving to many new homes. Later in his career, they settled in Virginia Beach, VA establishing a solid foundation there with wonderful friends and an outstanding quality of life after his Naval career.

Mary began working at local community banks while Robert was frequently at sea, learning all facets of operations. Later, she found her niche in Human Resources and excelled in the communication, organizational, and legal skills required to become a Senior Vice President Human Resources Officer at the former Monarch Bank in Chesapeake, VA and retired in 2015. Mary will be remembered for her effervescent smile, genuine compassion, and extraordinary willingness to use her skills in satisfying the requirements of both management and employees.

Additionally, she was devoted to equine rescue and spent much of her off-work time collaborating with horse rescues in Virginia Beach in addition to caring for her own adored horses, cats and dogs by providing a safe and loving home. In 2015, Mary and Robert retired to Thomasville, Ga where she thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and serenity of the "Rose City". Mary is survived by her husband Robert, son Damon, and three grandchildren, ArleighTyra, and Edward, and her "sibbies': Toni, Dan, Chuck, Margaret Ann, and Joey. A private ceremony will be held by the family. In remembrance, her many friends and family are encouraged to donate to their local equine or humane society organizations.
