Mary Anne was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco to Kathleen Dolen and Geoge W. Dolen on April 10, 1939. They preceded her in death.
Her devoted grandmother Kitty Tuite helped to raise her until 1950. She was educated by the Religious order of the Sacred Heart in MENLO Park, California and graduated in 1956.
She then attended Dominican College in San Rafael, California and Stanford University where she earned a BSN in nursing (1956-1961). After receiving her nursing license she entered the Dominican Nuns in San Rafael where she served. She began her teaching and nursing at the University of Nevada-Reno (1969-1971).
She obtained her Masters in Nursing at the University of Colorado in 1971. She received her Doctorate of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health (1987).
In 2002 she moved to Thomasville and taught at Thomas University, Florida State University, and the University of Pheonix until her retirement in 2009.
In her 50-year long career in nursing, she served as an educator and patient advocate.
A Rosary will be held at 10 am on January 6, 2025 at St Augustine’s Catholic Church 211 N Pinetree Blvd Thomasville, GA 31792. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11 am at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. Father Godfred Boachie-Yiadom will be officiating. Internment will be at St. Dominics Cemetery in Benicia, CA.
