Services for Mary F. Taylor are at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Keith Stewart will officiate and interment is at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Taylor died March 8, 2004. Born April 9th in McCormick, South Carolina she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Marie Talbert Fooshe. On August 12, 1951 at First Baptist Church in Augusta, GA she married Dr. James P. Taylor. She graduated from Lander College in Greenwood, SC with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She taught high school in North Augusta for a number of years and then spent most of her years as a homemaker. She and her husband located to Thomasville in 1960. She was a member of First Methodist Church where she was a past Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of Carrousel Garden Club, and most recently Briarcliff Garden Club, Medical Auxiliary, Church Circle, and an outstanding cook and loved baking special treats to take to people. Upon the celebration of her 50th college class reunion, when asked, what has been the best lesson you have learned this far in life? Her reply was ?This is a big world and we work hard to have the strength and courage to keep going. What makes life worth living is our giving and forgiving. Make lots of friends and be ready to help others.? She is survived by a daughter Jane Taylor Briscoe, and a granddaughter, Meredith Elaine Briscoe. Other surviving relatives include a brother-in-law, Roy Witherington of Augusta, GA, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lucille and Roy Donalson of Griffin, GA., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Marie Taylor in 1980, her husband, James P. Taylor in 2000, her parents Charles H. and Marie T. Fooshe, her sisters, Elizabeth Kee and Louise Witherington of Augusta, GA. In lieu of flowers or memorials, please take time to visit a neighbor, a friend, a family member, or someone you are aware of who is unable to get out and visit with others. Your kind gesture will greatly be appreciated by the individual and their family members. A smiling face always brightens someone?s day.
