Mary Julia Thigpen Hudson

Services for Mary Julia Hudson, 98 of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt and Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Hudson passed away on July 11 at Golden Living Center. She was born Mary Julia Thigpen on January 22, 1915 in Autryville of Colquitt County. She was the daughter and youngest child of the late William Lee "W.L." and Mary Etta Crosby Thigpen. On February 23, 1941 she married Thomas L. Hudson who preceded her in death in 2005. Also preceding her death were a brother Dennis L. Thigpen and two sisters, Pearl Thigpen and Eunice Thigpen Clark. She is survived by loving nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Hudson was a homemaker of great hospitality who shared her home freely with many. Having no children, she devoted much time to her nieces and nephews and their children. She also loved and taught numerous children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years and was also a teaching aid in public schools. She and her husband were respected members of the Fredonia community, where they were active in Fredonia Baptist Church. More recently they became founding members of Gatlin Creek Baptist Church.
