Mary Katherine Livingston

A celebration of life for Mary Katherine Livingston, 84 of Thomasville will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 12, 2010 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mike Adams, Pastor Jorge Quintick and Rev. Dr. Harold Thomaston will officiate and the interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mary passed away January 9, 2011 at Archbold Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born June 23, 1926 in Fountain Head, TN, but grew up in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James Andrew Livingston and Edna Mae Neil Livingston. Mary obtained her degree as a registered nurse from Fletcher Hospital & Sanitarian Nursing School in Fletcher NC in 1957. She became the Director of Nursing at the Maryland Nursing Home near Washington, DC before moving to the Lakeland Hospital in Lakeland, GA, where she served for 8 years. Mary came to Thomasville in 1968 and practice nursing at Camellia Gardens Nursing Home and became the administrator there in 1971. Later she became the Director of Nursing and remained in that position until 1995, when she retired and she was a member of the Pilot Club. Mary grew up and served faithfully in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. With her God given talents and gifts of wisdom, Mary was compassionate in serving others. She was active in one-on-one evangelism, giving bible studies and praying for others. With her timid and soft spoken voice she spread the good news of salvation to others. Mary touched many lives through her medical and spiritual ministry to others through nursing care and faith in God. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, grace and generosity. Mary reflected her deep love for the Lord and always put others before herself. Survivors include sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Livingston and Jessie Livingston Israel; nieces and nephews, Debbie Green of Newbury, NC, Anita Wells of Canton, NC, Dinah Mitchell of Conover, NC, Delmer Livingston of Westminster, SC, Paula Lawrence of Caldwell, ID, Donna Moon, of Tuxedo, NC; nephews, Donnie Livingston of Greenville, TN, Raymond Livingston of Hendersonville, NC and Darrell Livingston of Hendersonville, TN, caregivers and special friends, Rev. Dr. Harold & Joyce Thomaston of Thomasville; and members of her church, Kenyon Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was preceded in death by brothers, George Livingston and Jim Livingston.
