A memorial service to celebrate the life of MaryLou Larsen Mobley of Thomasville will be at 3:00PM on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at All Saints Episcopal Church where she was a founding member, 443 South Hansell Street, Thomasville. The Rev. Frederick Buechner will officiate. Born July 16, 1927 in Muskegon, Michigan, she graduated from Marywood Catholic Academy, Fairmont Casements Finishing School and Michigan State University. MaryLou dedicated her life to service in public health as a Speech Pathologist and Audiologist working for the Georgia Department of Human Resources from 1951 until her retirement in 1989. Many young speech impaired children were given the gift of communication due to her tireless rehabilitation efforts. She was instrumental in the development of the Georgia Crippled Children?s Service into a public service organization that helped thousands of needy children and their families. She was part of the original committee that established the South Georgia Mental Health Association. MaryLou, known as ? Moma Lou? worked, until this past Christmas, at The Gift Shop where she was known for her ability to tell jokes and share the latest gossip. She will always be remembered for her great spirit and compassion for all. Survivors include a sister, Jeanne Bartlett of North Muskegon, Michigan, 4 children, Margaret M. Thompson and husband Russ of Thomasville, John W. ?Jock? Mobley, IV of Pensacola, FL, Scott L. Mobley of Atlanta, Ned H. Mobley of Los Angles, CA, 3 grandchildren, David C. Scott, Jr. of Jackson, MS, John W. Mobley V and Jennifer Sarkardi of Pensacola, FL. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church parish hall. The family gives special thanks to the 5th floor staff of Archbold Memorial Hospital and the Southwest Georgia Hospice program. Also her in home caregivers Ethelene Heath and especially longtime family housekeeper and friend Leola Ross. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center, or to Hospice of Southwest GA, c/o Archbold Foundation, attention: Diane Presley, 910 South Broad Street, Thomasville, GA 31792.
