Mary Catherine Sherrod

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Catherine Sherrod, who departed this life on September 10, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 5, 1952, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Jack and Juanita Burns, Mary was a devoted nurse, serving the community for many years at Archbold. She married Larry Sherrod in 1970, and together they created a loving home in Pavo, Georgia, where they raised their family.

Mary was a dedicated member of the Church of God and found joy in many pursuits, including crocheting, collecting various treasures, and traveling to the mountains. A true animal lover, particularly of cats, she had a warm and generous spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Sherrod; her sons, Edward Sherrod (Jessica) of Whigham, GA, and Michael Sherrod (Sindy) of Pavo, GA; and her cherished grandson, Brandon Burns. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Sherrod, her parents, and numerous aunts and uncles, as well as her brother, Robert Burns Sr.                                                                                                                                               
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 2 PM at Allen and Allen Funeral Home, with Jerry Rewis Jr. officiating. A visitation will take place on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 5 to 7 PM at the same location. Mary's warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
