Thomasville, GA – Mary Mozell Williams, 88, of Thomasville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8th 2026. Mozell was the daughter of the late Samuel Dewey Phelps and Rosa Brinson Phelps. She was married to Charles Dean Williams on May 6th, 1956. They shared 52 years of marriage together before his passing in 2008.
Mozell grew up in Thomasville and graduated with honors from Thomasville High School Class of 1955. She had a lifelong career of 43 Years as a banker in Thomasville. She started out as a teller for Bank of Thomas County, which eventually became C & S Bank. She went on to work for Nations Bank and finally Bank of America, where she retired as the VP of the Gateway branch. In addition to her work in the banking industry, she also worked alongside her husband in the family business, Williams Electric Service, which they started together in 1972.
Mozell was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville, where she regularly attended Sunday School and sang in the Young at Heart Choir. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and spending time gardening.
Mozell is survived by her sons, Bart Williams of Monroe, Bret Williams (Angie) of Thomasville, and Brad Williams (Jan) of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Whitney Spivey (Brandon), Blake Williams (Malorie), Lyndsey Bearden (Dustin), all of Thomasville, Ethan Williams (Abbey) of Nashville, TN, Payton Williams (Cassie) of Miami, FL, and Denver Williams (Bri) of Smyrna, GA. She also leaves behind 8 great-grand “Boys” plus twins on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mozell is preceded in death by all of her siblings; brothers Dewy Phelps, Waymon Phelps, Clifford Phelps, and sisters Ruth Billingsley and Vernal Hudson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 14th, 2026 at 11:00AM in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends the evening before from 5:00-7:00PM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
