Maryann Nadine Elwell

Services for Maryann Nadine Chastain Elwell, 90, of Thomasville are 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Dawson Street Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate and interment will be at Little Ochlocknee Cemetery. Mrs. Elwell died March 19, 2010 at her residence. Born June 30, 1919 in Ochlocknee, she was the daughter of the late Henry Basil Chastain and Ada Eugenia McDade Chastain. On August 3, 1938 in Camellia, she married Hubert Alton Elwell, who survives. Mrs. Elwell was a devoted mother who loved her family and friends and enjoyed tending her flowers and gardening, oil painting, and was a skilled seamstress. Other survivors include daughter, Charlotte Cheri Pless of St. Petersburg, Fl, son, Darrell Elwell of Alligator Point, Fl, grandchildren, Derek T. & DeAna Elwell, Christopher Troy & Cindy Elwell, Jonathan & Erin Elwell, David & Jessica Elwell; great grandchildren, Henry D. Elwell, Charles C. Elwell, Alton Elwell, Abigail Elwell and Jennifer Elwell; daughter-in-law, Dixie Stack Elwell. She was preceded in death by a son James Randall "Jim" Elwell. Family and friends are invited to the Plaza on Sunday at 12:00 pm for lunch. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 20, 3 pm to 5 pm at the funeral home.
