Graveside service for Mattie Jean Mitchell will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Mitchell Family Cemetery, 4988 Five Forks Rd, Boston, 31626. Pastor Keith Wallace will officiate. Mrs. Mitchell passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, FL. Born on September 29, 1937, in Polen, Ga., she was the daughter of the late George Washington Taylor and Ruby Pollock Taylor. She married Lonnie Franklin Mitchell on January 9, 1954, and shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. Survivors include children, Lisa McDonald, and Dave Mitchell (Chris); grandchildren Lonnie Franklin (Frank) Mitchell, III (Michelle), Shea (Ashley), Jamie (Crickett), Mitchell, April (Clay), and Jake; great-grandchildren Joshua, Brooklyn, Josie, John Aaron (Kaylyn), Alex (Hannah), Sierra, Ery, Ashley J,, Topanga, Emma, Nathan, Nautica, Nevaeh, Izayiah, Karmyn, and Leighton; great-great grandchildren La’Crea, Ma’ Lonnie, Adelyn, Kaylex, and Dallas. She is preceded in death by her children, Lonnie Franklin Mitchell Jr. and John William Mitchell.
