Maurice “Monroe” Daniell II, age 86, passed away August 3, 2019. Monroe was born in Henderson, TX, on February 7, 1933, to father Maurice Monroe Daniell and mother Audrey Langford Daniell. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Audrey Gwen Daniell, and his brother Monteque Daniell. He grew up in Troup Texas, graduating from New London High School. He attended Tyler Junior College and graduated from North Texas State University in 1956. He joined the US Army and spent two years in Germany. After his military service, he moved to Thomasville, GA to join and manage his family’s business, Daniell’s Shaker Company, retiring in 1995. He was an active member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Monroe loved Thomasville, his family, time with his friends, golf, and fishing - especially golf. He enjoyed volunteering with the Thomasville Food Bank for many years where he served on the Board. He was a good listener, had a strong curiosity, and a great memory. Monroe is lovingly survived by many cousins, Kim Conely Coble (Bill) whom he regarded as his daughter, and Ruth Willett, whom he regarded as a sister. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Thomasville First United Methodist Church, officiated by the Reverend James Sapp and Reverend Burns Willis. The family will receive friends there at 1:00, and the service will begin at 2:00. A private burial will be held at Salem Cemetery, Havana, FL, following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Thomas County Food Bank, PO Box 2422, Thomasville, GA 31799. The family would like to thank the staff at the Suites of Woodleaf and the staff at Georgia Living at Home for the wonderful support, care, and love shown to Monroe.
