Maurice Vernon Murphy

Services for Maurice Vernon Murphy, 78, of Thomasville, are at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 at First Newark Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Steve Brooks will officiate and interment is in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Murphy passed away May 19, 2010. Born, January 30, 1932, in Coolidge, he was the son of the late Augustus and Annie Murphy. On March 14, 1970, in Thomas County, he married Faye Clark Murphy, who survives. He retired from Southwestern State Hospital after 34 years of employment. Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Mike Eiler of Phoenix City, Alabama and Leann and Brian Doering of Thomasville; granddaughter, Kelsey Eiler; sisters, Nell Brown and Azoline Brown both of Coolidge; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Dorothy Murphy of Coolidge. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Fred Brown and Cecil Brown. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
