Funeral services for Merlin Grant will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at the First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer and Rev.John Rainey officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Grant died July 5, 2004 at Southern Pines Retirement Home. Born on May 4, 1912 in Cottonwood, Al., she was the daughter of the late Henry Hardy and Carrie Sellers Hardy. On July 14, 1928 she married N.B. Grant who died in 1978. Mrs. Grant was a skilled and accomplished homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in the Young at Heart Choir. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Joie and Florence Grant, daughter and son-in-law Donna and Ron Carney both of Thomasville, daughter-in-law Cookie Grant of Acworth, daughter-in-law Ophelia Grant Snow of Columbus, niece she raised as a daughter Patty Albright of Tallassee, Al., grandchildren Jim Grant, Michael Grant, Georgia Kelly, Debbie Wallace, Keith Grant, Todd Grant, Chuck Grant, Patricia Wallace, Suzie Harden, Kim Grant, Crista Reese and Grant Carney; 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Roy and Earl Grant, son and daughter-in-law Charles and Fran Dumpy Grant, grandson Buddy Grant, and by her brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
