Funeral services for Michael Ray Swords, 48, of Opelika, AL will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 25 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Smith will officiate and internment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Swords died on November 22, 2012. Born in Cairo, GA, on Feb. 1, 1964, he was the son of Alfred Lewis and Shirley Brown Swords of Moultrie, GA. He was owner of Swords Lawn Care and a Pastor of Freedom Baptist Church in Lee, County, AL. Other survivors include a son and daughter in law, Brandon and Ashley Swords of Opelika, AL; daughter and son in law Caitlyn and Jeremy Hatcher of Pelham; stepchildren, Andy Kinman Keely, Amber Lemke Corey, and Adam Baker all of Opelika, AL. Also surviving are grandchildren Price Swords, Brailyn Thaxton, Ayden Thaxton, Emma Swords, Blakely Hatcher, Brooklyn Hatcher and step-granchildren Korbin and Karsen Kinman. Other survivors include a brother Billy Swords of Norman Park, a sister Kathy Swords of Thomasville and Michael's wife Lisa Swords of Opelika, AL. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 on Saturday at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
