The family will be having a private burial with military honors after the service. On Monday, November 11, 2019, Veterans Day, a WWII veteran went to be with his Lord. Milton Clark Ganyard, Sr, was 98 years young having been born in Medina, Ohio, May 1, 1921. At the age of 15, he took over running the family farm due to the illness and subsequent death of his father. He took care of supporting his mother and three sisters. He married his “good wife”, Naomi Ruth Ganoe, on May 30, 1942, and they produced and raised six children. In 1945, Milton enlisted into the Army to serve his country during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to his wife and, at that time, two young sons and continued farming. After the birth and illness of their daughter, he and Naomi sold their farm and moved to Georgia to a warmer climate for their daughter’s health. They purchased a farm in Boston, GA and proceeded to begin a dairy business. Later, Milton began contracting and building homes throughout the South Georgia area. He went on to work at the Marine Corp Logistic Center in Albany, GA. He returned to Thomasville to work for the city as Building Inspector and was promoted to the position of Superintendent of the Sewer Department from which he retired in 1985. Over the years, he became a certified electrician and certified plumber. After retirement his love for family research provided him and his wife the opportunity to travel throughout the country in search of family connections. He always enjoyed reminiscing about their travels and tracing their family trees. Milton was a founding member of Thomasville Genealogical Society and Morningside UMC. He was a member of the Golden K and the Sons of the American Revolution. Milton will be greatly missed among his family, friends, and his neighbors. Milton was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters, his wife, and grandsons Ryan Ganyard and Seth Ganyard. He is survived by his six children: Milton, Jr., Robert, Diane O’Conner (Jim), John (Shelly), Beth Kern (Gary), Ruth Strub (Bob), five granddaughters, four grandsons, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
