Services for Modena Dena Johnson Hicks, 93, of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Metcalfe Methodist Church where she was a member. Rev. Molly Danner and Rev. Marshall Singletary will officiate and interment will be in Hicks Cemetery. Mrs. Hicks died February 4, 2012 at her residence. Born November 3, 1918 in Thomasville, GA she was the daughter of the late G.C. and Aline Barnes Johnson. She was married to J. Channell Hicks who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and served as church treasurer. She loved to sit on her porch and watch the humming birds, cats, flowers and other wildlife. She also loved to watch football. She loved her family and neighbors and was always there for them. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gary J. and MaryLee Hicks of St. Paul, MN, grandchildren, Cedar Sexton, Austin and Nikki Hicks, Arwyn Hicks, nieces and nephews, Selena Johnson Mills, David Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Becky Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Charles Jackson, Carol Paige, Charlotte Hicks Hungate, John Hicks, George Franklin Hicks, Theresa West, Judy Connell, Lee Jennings, Virginia Bennett , special lifelong friend, Jeanette Horne McLendon of Thomasville, GA, and beloved friends and neighbors W. A. and Becky Parrish. She was preceded in death by a son, J. Channell Hicks, Jr., brothers, G.C. Johnson, Jr, Carl Buddy Johnson, sister, Freeda Jackson, nieces and nephews, Joe Johnson, Katherine Blackson, Frank Smith, Juliette Green and George Varn.
