Murray Leon Hinckley, 83, of Pavo, Georgia, died peacefully at Archbold Memorial in Thomasville, Georgia, on December 17, 2024.
Murray was born in Bar Harbor, Maine on November 24, 1941 to Harold Ernest Hinckley and Dorothy Henrietta McHenan Hinckley. When he was 11 years old, the family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School.
Murray married the love of his life, Judy Darlene Fisher, in 1961. He was a loving father to his sons Jeff and Tom, who will miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them.
Murray was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Hinckley, and his parents, Harold and Dorothy Hinckley, as well as several brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and a nephew. He is survived by sons Jeff (Donita) Hinckley of Thomasville and Tom (Donna) Hinckley of Pell City, Alabama. He had one granddaughter, Candice Free of W. Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three grandsons, Josh (Megan) Hinckley of Newnan, Georgia, Jacob (Vanessa) Hinckley of Lilburn, Georgia, and Cameron (Javacia) Hinckley of Center Point, Alabama; and nine great-grandchildren, Ashton Deale and Kelly Deale of Birmingham, Alabama, Damon Roche of Irwinville, Louisiana, Shy'Niya Copeland of Center Point, Emerson and Quinn Hinckley of Newnan, and Carter, Rylee, and Jackson Hinckley of Center Point. Murray is also survived by his beloved siblings, Fred (Elaine) Hinckley of Huntsville, Alabama, and Sandra (Gordon) Browne of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; sister-in-law Laura Burks of Odenville, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 25, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomasville Church, 427 Covington Avenue, Thomasville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society at
