A memorial service for Myrl M. Lawson will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:30AM in the First Presbyterian Church sanctuary. The service will be officiated by DT House. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Lawson, 95, widow of Wendell O. Lawson died at 6PM, April 12, 2014 at her home. She was born September 11, 1918 in German Township, PA. The youngest daughter of the late Ogle L. and Mathilda J. Long, she was a graduate of Sharon (PA) High School and Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA, where she earned her R.N. degree. She was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the Warren State Hospital for 28 years and was Assistant Director of Nursing at her retirement. She was an avid golfer, porcelain artist (china painter), antique collector and world traveler. Mrs. Lawson was a past member of Easter Star and Zonta International. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John M. and Ogle L. Long, Jr., one sister Olga Connelly, her son John O. Lawson (Jack) and her husband of 67 years, Wendell O. Lawson. Survivors include daughter Susan Mahan, five grandchildren Kelly Hunsberger (Corey), Julia Sears (Michael), Cash Lawson (Lisa), Cary Lawson (Venus) and John D. Lawson (Andrea), also survived by eight great-grandchildren C.J., Alan, and Ted Lawson, Shane and Nicole Lawson, Matthew Lawson, Amber and Cora Sears, several nieces and one nephew.
