Graveside services for Myrtice Virginia Shealey, 93, of Thomasville will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday January 2, 2025 in Laurel Hill Cemetery on Louisiana Street with Rev. Garland Basford officiating. Heaven gained another angel on Monday December 30, 2024 after she passed away at her home. Born on August 11, 1931 in Cairo, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Gordon Horton and Annie Lee McKown Horton. She was married to James Floyd Shealey and were married for 53 years before he passed away. She was a dedicated member of Thomasville Church of Christ and worked at Coats and Clarks for over 44 years before her retirement. After retirement she kept children in her home for 25 years which she enjoyed. She loved all of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a joy to her. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers was a great cook especially known for her pineapple cake which many said was the best they had eaten. Survivors include her daughters Jane Johnson and Gail Medders both of Cairo; sons Kenneth Shealey (Mary) and Danny Shealey (Linda) both of Thomasville; grandchildren David Johnson of Cairo, Chad Johnson (Sharon) of Cairo, Kim Joiner (Walt) of Cairo, Chris Medders of Cairo, Jamie Shealey of Thomasville, Jordan Shealey of Thomasville, Jerrod Shealey of Thomasville, Brenda Horton of Cairo. 9 great grandchildren; sister Joann Baggett (Horace) of Cairo. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Her family will greet friends immediately after the service.
