Myrtle Collins Banks

Services for Myrtle Collins Banks, 89 of Cairo will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 5, 2013 at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt will officiate and interment will be in Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Mrs. Banks passed away April 1 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born September 28, 1923 in Cotton, Ga; she was the daughter of the late George Collins and Lillan Mae Pope Collins. She was married to Floyd T. Banks, Sr. who preceded her in death. She graduated from Meigs High School, Georgia Baptist Nursing College and was a retired nursing supervisor. Mrs. Banks was an active member of West Side Baptist Church but after its recent closing she became a member of Gatlin Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Floyd T. Tommy Banks, Jr. and wife Barbara of Scroggins, TX, Bobby W. Banks, Sr. and wife Sue of Thomasville; and Tammy Calhoun of Whigham; daughter-in-law, Shirley Banks of Cairo; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Mike Banks, brother, Woodrow Collins and sisters, Ethel Lowe and Jewel Wilkes.
