Nan Barnett NeSmith, age 75, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Services will be held 4:00PM, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Big Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Neely and Rev. B.J. Fore officiating. Interment will be at Big Creek Cemetery. Born July 8, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Blanche Barnett of Ocala, Florida. She was married to Carol Dean NeSmith on October 20, 1967, who survives. She was a faithful member of Kendrick Baptist Church, Ocala, Florida, until moving to Thomas County. She then became an active member of Big Creek Baptist Church. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degree in physical education. She went on to teach physical education for 21 years in Levy and Marion County Florida. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Carol Dean NeSmith; sisters-in-law, Shirley NeSmith of Thomas County and Hilda NeSmith Alles and husband Bruce Alles of Woodstock, Georgia. Also surviving are niece, Edie NeSmith Purser and husband Al Purser; great nieces, Amanda Redinger and husband Matt Redinger and Ashley Purser; great-great niece, Emmy Redinger. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nell B. NeSmith and brother-in-law, Lynell NeSmith. The family will receive friends 3:00PM until 4:00PM on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Big Creek Baptist Church.
