Nancy Pugh passed away on January 20, 2024, at the age of 97, in her hometown of Thomasville, GA. She was born on July 30, 1926 to loving parents, the late Oscar Pugh and Lucille Upchurch Pugh.
Nancy's roots were deeply embedded in Thomasville, where she was born and raised. Throughout her life, she made significant contributions to the betterment of her community. With unwavering devotion, she served the United States Government through her work with FEMA, displaying exemplary professionalism and diligent commitment to her duties.
Her profound faith was evident in her lifelong membership at First Methodist Church. A pillar of the congregation, Nancy actively participated in various church activities. She generously shared her time and talents, serving on the church board and the altar society, where she found solace in her spiritual pursuits.
Beyond her dedication to her faith, Nancy was respected and admired for her involvement in her community. She was a cherished member of the Garden Club, where she cultivated her passion for horticulture and nurtured the beauty of nature. Additionally, she lent her expertise to the Woman's Club, the Historical Society, and various other organizations that aimed to preserve the rich heritage of Thomasville.
Nancy's gentle presence and warm smile touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her genuine kindness and compassion knew no bounds, and she leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and selflessness. Her surviving relatives include great-nephews Robert A. Howe of Tallahassee, Fl, and Lawson R. Howe of Mexico Beach, Fl. along with several cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Rose Pugh and Bobby L. Howe, nephews Richard D. Howe and Robert L. Howe.
The funeral service to honor Nancy's life and cherish her memory will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday January 25,2024 in the First Methodist Church Sanctuary. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
