Obituary for Nancy G. Smith
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy G. Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Nancy peacefully left this world on November 10, 2023 at her residence in Boston, GA. She was born on June 11, 1953, to the late James N. Carter, Sr. and Hazel Bond Carter in the same town she called home throughout her life.
Nancy was a woman of simple pleasures and immense devotion to her family. After graduating from Thomasville High School, she married the love of her life, James Smith, on February 28, 1975, in a joyful ceremony held at Harvest Temple in Thomasville, GA. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for each other.
As a dedicated homemaker, Nancy created a warm and loving environment for her family. Her nurturing spirit and selflessness defined her character, making her not just a mother but also a friend and confidante to her son, Jay Smith. Nancy's love extended to her grandchildren, Jake Smith and Savannah Smith, who brought immense joy to her life.
A woman of faith, Nancy was an active member of Summerhill Baptist Church, where she found solace, strength, and a sense of community. She cherished the gatherings with her church family and found comfort in her steadfast belief in God.
Nancy had a passion for music, enjoying its melodic embrace in any form. From humming her favorite tunes to attending local concerts, she found solace and joy in the rhythm of life. Nancy also embraced the beauty of nature, finding serenity in camping trips where family bonds grew stronger around the campfire.
Above all, Nancy cherished her time spent with family. Whether it was a simple gathering, a holiday celebration, or a spontaneous adventure, Nancy's presence filled every occasion with love and laughter. Her genuine care and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 48 ys, James Smith, her loving son and daughter in law Jay and Brandie Smith, and her brother Randy Carter of Panama City, FL. Additionally, she leaves behind grandchildren David and Aubrey Tinsley of Thomasville, GA, and granddaughter Kaylin and Chris Fallin of Coolidge, GA. She also had the joy of welcoming her great-granddaughter Lainey Rhea Tinsley into the world. She is additionally survived by sisters-in-law Christie Thomas of Boston, and Bobbie Carter of Panama City Beach. She was preceded in death by brother Jimmy Carter, sister Judy Mattox and sister in law Melody Lynn Smith.
Funeral services and ceremonies, celebrating the life of Nancy G. Smith, will be held at Allen & Allen's Celebration of Life Chapel on Tuesday November 14, 2023 at 11am. Visitation will be held one hour before. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to gather, share stories, and honor her memory. The burial will take place at Laurel Hill.
