Services for Odis Douglas Sherrod of Thomasville are 11:00AM on Thursday, October 24, 2002 at First Baptist Church where he was a member. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner, Rev. Dan Spencer & Rev. Jimmy Odum will officiate with interment in Antioch Cemetery. Mr. Sherrod died Monday at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Born May 26, 1943 in Pavo, Ga. he was the son of late Odis Dallas Sherrod and Velma Youngblood Sherrod who survives. On November 2, 1991 in Waycross, Ga., he married Elaine Fender Sherrod who survives. He was a Military Police in the U.S. Army and was District Director for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Farm Services Agency for 35 plus years. He served as a deacon at Antioch Baptist Church for several years. He was a wonderful son, husband,daddy & granddaddy. Other survivors include daughters & sons-in-law, Wanda & Jeff Hancock of Thomasville, Nancy & Keith Newbern of Lakeland, Ga. and son Josh Browning of Thomasville; brother & sister-in-law, Larry Elbert & Cathy Sherrod, sister-in-law, Shirley Sherrod of Pavo; grandchildren, Jacob Lint Hancock, Mallory Lynn Newbern and Reese Lane Hancock; nieces, Joanne Sholan of Pavo, Patricia Blawn of Jacksonville, Fl., nephews, Edward Sherrod and Michael Sherrod both of Pavo several great nieces & great nephews. He was adored by a very special little dog Yogi Sherrod. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Sherrod and a niece, Beth Sherrod. The family will receive friends at Allen & Allen Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7-9PM. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
