Ora Lee Minchew

Services for Ora Lee Minchew of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at Pearson Treadwell Funeral Home in Blackshear, GA. The Rev. Edmond Thrift will officiate and interment will be in Blackshear Cemetery. Mrs. Minchew died May 4, 2003 at Camellia Gardens. Born November 29, 1911 in Coffee Co., Ga., she was the daughter of the late Lester and Mary Holton Raulerson. She was married to Thomas Melvin Minchew who preceded her in death. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Blackshear, Ga. Mrs. Minchew was a homemaker, helped with the family farm and worked for Johnson Drugs in Blackshear. After the death of her husband in 1973 she started the Widow's Club to help others who had lost a spouse. She was an avid gardner as well as a member of the local Quilting Club. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Fred Vonier of Thomasville, daughter-in-law, Sharon Minchew of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Tracy Minchew Todd of Charlotte, N.C., Aimee Minchew of Atlanta, GA., Jennifer Vonier of Charleston, S.C. and Jay Vonier of Suwanee, GA.; great grandchildren, Ryan Todd and Harrison Todd of Charlotte, N.C; and sister-in-law, Virginia Raulerson of Alma, GA. She was preceded in death by sons James Ray Minchew and Robert Troy Minchew; brother, Oscar Raulerson; sisters Essie Mae Hamilton and Ivos Kelly. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home in Thomasville, GA., and from 7-9PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Pearson Treadwell Funeral Home in Blackshear, GA.
