Funeral services for Rev. Ormand E. Hunter, 86, of Thomasville will be at 12:00 PM on Monday April 4, 2016 at First Christian Church in Lake Butler, Florida. Danny Hurlburt will officiate and interment will follow in Dekle Cemetery in Lake Butler. Rev. Hunter died on April 1, 2016 in Thomasville. Pallbearers will be Zach Lewis, Nick Lewis, Tim Hudnall, Chris Muse, Daryl Shad and Ted Johns. Born November 7, 1929 in Raiford, Florida, he was the son of the late Oscar and Thelma Pons Hunter. On February 19, 1950 in Sanford, Florida, he married Shirley Jean Hunter, who survives. Rev. Hunter graduated high school in 1949 and was captain of the basketball and football team. He attended Stetson University for 2 years. He was a part of Griffis & Hunter Construction Co., from 1954 thru 1964. In 1965, he began his ministry in Church of God of Prophecy. He pastored church for 35 years throughout Florida. Other survivors include his daughter, Shirley Francis Hunter Lewis and her husband Charlie of Thomasville, his son Ormand Edward Hunter, Jr. and his wife Jill W. of Thomasville a brother Donald Douglas of Jacksonville, Florida, and sisters JoAnn Mingle, Francis Canaday, Jackie Pless and Billy Hunter all of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren and their families. The family will receive friends from 3 Pm to 5 Pm on Sunday at Allen & Allen Funeral Home in Thomasville and from 11:00 AM till service time on Monday at the First Christian Church in Lake Butler, Florida.
