Oscar Benjamin Baron
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Oscar Benjamin Baron will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at The Christian Crusade Church located at 973 Ga. Hwy. 133 South, Moultrie, Ga. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Rev. Eddie Dee and Rev. Wayne Woods will officiate.
Oscar Benjamin Baron, 69, of Moultrie, Ga., formerly of Williston, Florida passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Oscar was born on Dec. 22, 1940, to Tom Baron and Meda Sellers Baron at the family home in Hartsfield, Ga. Oscar grew up in Moultrie and graduated from Moultrie High School in 1960. While Oscar was working in Moultrie for General Telephone Company he met his future wife and life long friend and companion, Emily Scott Baron. Oscar went to work for the new cable television business and he and his wife lived all over the United States and in the Virgin Islands. They later made their home in Williston Florida before moving back to Moultrie, Ga. 18 years ago.
Oscar and Emily have been blessed with 48 wonderful years together. Oscar always said that God had richly blessed him with a loving family, a devoted wife, two wonderful children, a precious daughter-in-law and three of the greatest grandchildren to love and cherish. His family said he got the most enjoyment being with friends and family and playing with his grandchildren. He was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved helping out anyone that needed help or cheering up. During the time he was living in the nursing home he would go up and down the halls speaking to everyone and seeing if he could be of help to the other patients. He was known as the man with the ?Nutty Buddies? as he loved to share them with his fellow patients and staff.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Baron and Meda Sellers Baron of Moultrie, Ga., and a brother, Tony Baron The Peanut Man of Moultrie, Ga.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Emily Scott Baron of Moultrie, Ga.; daughter, Mary Margaret Baron of Atlanta, Ga.; son, John Thomas Baron and wife, Tiffany of Ellington, Ga.; 3 grandchildren, Jacob Harris, Zane Baron and Olivia Baron of Ellington, Ga.; sisters, Connie Sue Rhodes and husband, Andy of Moultrie, Ga., Becky Rentz and Martha Dexter of Moultrie, Ga., Kathy Becton of Coolidge, Ga.; brothers, Ray Baron and wife, Betty of Moultrie, Ga., Robert Baron of Moultrie, Ga. and Guerry Baron and wife, Pam of Albany, Ga.; sister-in-law, Janyce Ellington and husband, Don of Marietta, Ga.; host of nieces, nephews, loving friends, the caring and loving special caregivers at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, 2 special four legged friends, ?Buddy? and ?Devil Cat?.
