Oscar Nelson Bennett

January 31, 1935 — October 15, 2024

Oscar Nelson Bennett, 89 of Thomasville passed away on October 15, 2024. He was born on January 31, 1935, in Georgetown, GA to the late Oscar and Irene Bennett.
Oscar served and retired from the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a very well-known plantation manager and dog trainer. Oscar had numerous field trial accomplishments. He was known as “Big O” to many.
Survivors include his children: Matt (Leslie) Bennett of Ochlocknee, GA ; John (Cristina) Bennett of Covington, GA; Debbie Bennett of Sharpsburg, GA; and daughter-in-law, Denise Bennett of Thomasville, GA; and numerous grandchildren. He is also survived by stepchildren: Susie (Bill) Holmes of Pike Road, AL; Brenda (David) Trice of Griffin, GA; and, Steve (Becky) Brady of Salem, AL; and numerous step grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Clydene Bennett and son, Oscar “Butch” Nelson Bennett Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Sunday, October 20th at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Devotion. His family will greet friends in the cemetery before the service from 10:30-11:00AM.
